Hi all,
It has now been a month since Karen and I gave up the good life for a life of unemployment and vagrancy. So far so good. We made it to France - a country bitter with the loss of the world cup match to England – it seems that was the cup match and they are not even sure who won the coup du monde. And once again there were 15 New Zealanders huddled round the small screen watching the final. Not that you would know in Paris as there was a 100% pure NZ football smack down below the Eiffel tower with Maoris doing the harka and singing well after their team had gone home.
Mr Incredible and I off course were barracking for ABE (Anyone but England) since the wallabies decided to catch up on their sleep on a Qantas plane rather than play for the cup, which saw me covered in tri-colour paint, pale blue and white but I drew the line at supporting the boks so the final was a game without passion at our table in the Galway at Les Sables d’Olonne.
Mr Incredible however got right into the spirit and the action and made quite an impact on the game in Paris.
But enough about that sorry game of Rugby (SA is the only dual winner that has never crossed the line in a final). We are here for culture and sailing – of which we know very little about. We did some sightseeing in Paris, visited La Louvre and Notre Dame and of course Karen did what every girl does in Paris – went shopping and bought a vacuum cleaner................???
We hired a car to get us from Paris to Les Sables and getting out of Paris was interesting to say the least. The instructions from Google Maps were great but one wrong turn and we saw most of Paris by Freeway. We arrived in Les Sables 7 hours later to thick fog and our boat – unfinished but floating.
